Lower Alabama: The Loxley Sessions out now!

BTF frontman Edward David Anderson’s sophomore solo release is now available on CD, VINYL & DIGITALLY at Royal Potato Family and itunes.  Recorded at Admiral Bean Studio on 2,400 acres in rural Loxley, AL during the winter of 2014, the album embodies the laid back culture and vibe of the Alabama gulf coast where Anderson lives part-time.  The songs were heavily affected by studio owner and producer Anthony Crawford (Neil Young, Steve Winwood, Willie Sugarcapps) who plays a multitude of instruments on the 10/16/15 release. The nine-song collection floats melodiously on rivers of fiddle and clouds of pedal steel, on gentle acoustic guitars and hints of piano, dusted with some ghostly guitar from Will Kimbrough and striking vocal harmony from Crawford’s wife, singer Savanna Lee.

We are pleased to announce the release of Ed’s debut solo album Lies & Wishes on the Brooklyn based Royal Potato Family label. Fall shows and hiatus

Hey folks,
We’re going to celebrate 10 years of Backyard Tire Fire in the fall with some BIG SHOWS (below)…and then we’re going to take a break. An indefinite hiatus, if you will. Everything is cool, we all just have lots of other things going in our lives right now. We want to thank people like Nick Curry and Geoff Harrison for their hard work and resolve. Thanks to our loved ones for dealing with the constant touring. And to the people that listened to the songs and supported us, and fed us and gave us places to sleep.

BTF at Decatur Celebration Aug. 7th/Farmfest 450 Aug. 20th!!!

Backyard Tire Fire will be performing at this year’s Decatur Celebration on Aug. 7th at 6pm on the Spotlight Stage.  Later in the month the band will return to Farmfest 450!!!  This is a 2 day event and was a blast last year.  Come on out, put up a tent, knock down down some cold beverages and enjoy some rock & roll in the middle of the cornfields!!!!

Check out Ed’s new site for all upcoming solo and duo dates including stops in Joliet, Chicago, Rock Island, Saybrook, Carbondale, Nashville, TN, Louisville & Newport, KY and Columbia & St. Louis, MO.  Ed also plays every Wednesday at Six Strings in downtown Bloomington with Chicago Farmer, and will be picking up Tuesdays at Bottoms Up in Pekin with Farmer throughout July.  Ed will also begin work on his first solo record in Sept…more info to come.

2011 Shows

We’re taking things a little slower in 2011 than usual. We’ve been home writing and writing some more for the next record. We’re excited to announce two special shows coming up this spring in Bloomington, and Chicago.

On March 18th we’ll be returning to the Castle Theater in Bloomington, this time with Mic Harrison and the High Score (from the V-Roys) opening up the show. Tickets are onsale here.

April 15th at the Double Door, we’ll be back in the Windy City for a very special co-bill with fellow Illinois rock&roll torchbearers, Steepwater Band and special guest Hollus. Purchase tickets here.
