10/27/08 - New Video for "How in the Hell Did You Get Back Here?" Check out our new video directed by our favorite NYC indie filmmakers, Filipe Bessa and Nick Schwartz. It was shot in our hometown of Bloomington, IL:
From the director Filipe Bessa: "What always struck us about Backyard Tire Fire is the idea of the musicians and the music coming from a working-class background and really embracing what that means by approaching their music as their craft. Upholding an artist as a craftsman is very important to us, because art shouldn't be looked at as something we do solely to 'express ourselves,' but rather as a craft, worked within and around its own contexts and environments. The local musician has a lot more in common with the local mechanic than we tend to imagine. Ideally they both represent what makes up the American landscape as we know it. The joy and the sadness of work are present in both, and that's a powerful correlation." If you dig what you see, add it to your Myspace, Facebook and blog! 10/08/08 - Backyard Tire Fire at HearYa, on Blurt and JamBase: Check out our features on Blurt Magazine and JamBase.com. 02/19/08- Sick of Debt free download! "We loaded into Oxide Lounge in Bloomington, IL on a cold December afternoon (12.17.07) to record a healthy dose of some acoustic Tire Fire twang. There had always been talk of sitting down in the same room and doing a stripped down recording and we finally found the time to do it! Some of these songs are favorites that have been around for years and never found a place on an album, while others were written only weeks before. All of the tunes feature our good friend Jerry "Muttonhead" Erickson on either dobro or pedal steel guitar and were recorded live with minimal overdubs. The result is a raw collection of some of our finest acoustic material that we decided to make available for FREE DOWNLOAD. Please enjoy and pass it around." - Ed Anderson Or download tracks individually (right click and hit "save link as"):1. "Sick of Debt" - download 2. "I Only Cry When My Momma's Sick" - download 3.
